Not at all. While spaniels, retrievers and other working breeds tend to take to it naturally, gundog training is suitable for any dog who loves to sniff, search or retrieve. If you're not sure whether it's right for your dog, just get in touch and Jo can advise.
No. Our sessions are open to all levels, including complete beginners.
If you’re new to Gundog Training, you’ll work on the foundations, while dogs and owners with more experience continue progressing their skills. Everyone works at their own individual level and progresses at their own pace.
Dogs can join our Gundog Training for Pet Dogs sessions from 12 weeks old.
The exercises will always be adapted to suit your dog’s age, experience and individual ability.
FurryTails Gundog Training for Pet Dogs sessions are held fortnightly on Tuesday evenings, 6.30–7.30pm, at Corners K9 Fields, Easingwold, York.
Please note there are no toilet facilities on site, if you have any concerns about accessibility for you or your dog, just get in touch before booking and I’ll be happy to advise.
It depends on the level of difficulty your dog has around other dogs. Jo's 1-1 program may be a better starting point, and we also run tailored classes specifically for reactive or excitable dogs. If you're unsure, just send Jo a message and she'll help you figure out the best next step.

"It was a really great session - Abby and Figgy are just brilliant. Abby clearly knows her stuff, and explains what we need to do and more importantly the background and why - which is super helpful."
