Dr. Karen Becker is a huge public figure in the world of animals, a veterinarian and also author of 'The Forever Dog' and I was super excited and privileged to be invited to do an interview with her for 'Creating Happy and Healthy Pets Week', talking to her about the many benefits of canine enrichment. This has now gone live, worldwide, on her Barks and Whiskers website, plus on several of her social media platforms.
As a positive reward dog trainer for Dogs for Autism (registered charity), I was invited to the grand opening of their new training centre in Hampshire, where I had the privilege to meet and chat at length to one of their patrons, Dr. Scott Miller, vet from ITV’s This Morning show.
Dogs for Autism Ambassador, Chris Packham opened the event and gave us a fascinating insight into how his involvement with animals changed his life.
I was luckily enough to have been invited out to 2nd Change Dogs in Cyprus to help out at their secure centre, mainly with gorgeous disabled beautiful boy Tommy, who had very sadly lost the use of his back legs from a car accident and was then returned to the rescue centre by his owners who didn’t feel they could keep him.Mario and Doris, who own the rescue centre are both accredited positive reward based dog trainers truly do love each and every dog that are at the centre.During my few days there I got to see how well looked after all the dogs are and I got to advise on how Enrichment and Mental Stimulation could improve their lives whilst they’re at the centre awaiting their forever homes. The main purpose of my visit was to help Tommy’s quality of life thorough Enrichment and Mental Stimulation as he wouldn’t be getting much physical exercise. This was such a humbling experience and a real honour to have been invited there.Mario filmed a Facebook Live of me doing an Enrichment session with one of the very nervous dogs Tina and to see how her confidence and curiosity cam out during the session was so lovely.Tommy has since been rehomed by Mario and Doris as they couldn’t bear to part with him as he’s such a special boy.It was watched by 40k people.
