Gundog training and scentwork are brilliant ways to tap into your dog’s natural instincts in a fun, positive and controlled way. By giving dogs purposeful jobs like sniffing, searching and retrieving, these activities build confidence, calmness and focus - while strengthening the connection between you and your dog through rewarding, real-life training.
At FurryTails, we offer group workshops and 1-1 sessions, so you can pick a training style that suits you and your dog.

Gundog Training for Pet Dogs
Designed for everyday families who want to tap into their dog’s natural instincts in a fun, positive and controlled way.
This isn’t traditional shooting-field training - it’s modern, reward-based gundog skills adapted for real life.
Gundog training is about working with your dog, not against their instincts. It creates incredible teamwork, meaningful stimulation and a confident dog who knows how to use their energy in the best way.
These workshops are perfect for:
Spaniels, retrievers and other working breeds
Young dogs needing structure
Rescue dogs needing confidence
Over-excitable dogs needing focus
Any pet dog who loves to sniff, search or retrieve
Suitable from 12 weeks
Your dog will need to be comfortable working around other dogs.

Price: £45 for Beginners workshop
You then move onto Gundog Progression workshops, where everyone can progress on an individual basis (£30)
UK Sniffer Dogs Scent Detection
Scentwork is a brilliant activity for all dogs. It provides mental stimulation, a physical workout and reduces stress, creating happy, confident dogs.
FurryTails offers 4 levels of workshops (Bronze series 1 and 2, Silver series 3 and 4), each more challenging to engage and stimulate your dog.
These workshops are perfect for:
Building great teamwork for you and your dog
Providing mental stimulation
Building calmness
Suitable from 4 months
Your dog will need to be comfortable working around other dogs.

We also run Reactivity Scent Detection workshops for existing customers whose dogs are ready for a small, supportive group environment.
