Dogs are built to work - to sniff, search and think.
FurryTails' Gundog, Scentwork and Rally classes give your dog a positive outlet for all of that energy, while building a stronger bond between you in the process.
And before you wonder - yes, this includes your dog. You don't need a working breed or any prior experience. These classes are designed for everyday pet dogs and their owners, with Jo's positive, reward-based approach running through everything.
Whether you're just starting out or you've been training with FurryTails for years, there's always something to work on and progress to make.

Designed for everyday families who want to tap into their dog's natural instincts in a fun, positive and controlled way.
This isn't traditional shooting-field training - it's modern, reward-based gundog skills adapted for real life. It's about working with your dog, not against their instincts.

Spaniels, retrievers and other working breeds
Young dogs, including puppies, needing structure
Rescue dogs needing confidence

Scentwork is a brilliant activity for all dogs - it provides mental stimulation, a physical workout and reduces stress, creating happy, confident dogs.
And because it's nose-led rather than physically demanding, it's particularly brilliant for older dogs or those needing a gentler form of enrichment.
Scentwork is perfect for:
Puppies from 12 weeks
Older dogs needing low-impact, mental stimulation
Anxious or nervous dogs building confidence
Over-excitable dogs that need to slow down and focus
Any dog who needs more mental enrichment in their day
Suitable from 12 weeks.

Not at all. While spaniels, retrievers and other working breeds tend to take to it naturally, gundog training is suitable for any dog who loves to sniff, search or retrieve. If you're not sure whether it's right for your dog, just get in touch and Jo can advise.
Scentwork is actually one of the best activities for older dogs. It's nose-led rather than physically demanding, so it provides brilliant mental stimulation without putting strain on joints or energy levels. If your dog is slowing down but still needs enrichment, scentwork is a great option.
Rally is a fun, structured activity where you and your dog navigate a course of stations together, each with a different exercise to complete. It builds focus, teamwork and loose lead walking in a positive, relaxed environment. It's suitable for all breeds and ages from 12 weeks, and is a great foundation for anyone interested in entering trials in the future.
FurryTails classes are held at our training centre in Easingwold, North Yorkshire or outdoor fields/locations (please see your specific booking for location). Please note the training centre is upstairs, so if you have any concerns about accessibility for you or your dog, just get in touch before booking.
It depends on the level of difficulty your dog has around other dogs. Jo's 1-1 program may be a better starting point, and we also run tailored classes specifically for reactive or excitable dogs. If you're unsure, just send Jo a message and she'll help you figure out the best next step.

"It was a really great session - Abby and Figgy are just brilliant. Abby clearly knows her stuff, and explains what we need to do and more importantly the background and why - which is super helpful."

"We really enjoyed the UK Sniffer Dog workshop run by Jo. It was fun and relaxed, with a good balance of activities and breaks for the dogs. I’ve been practising what we did at home and looking forward to the next one! Great for building calming, enrichment and focus"

"I started doing Rally with my German Shorthaired Pointer. He has taken to it amazingly and we both love it. He is a vocal boy and I have found rally has helped him focus more and stay quiet at our other sports, and doing close work with me has improved his distance listening in agility. I also think it has deepened our bond even more. He is always so excited to come to a session and is absolutely exhausted the day after which is saying something! I love our snuggly mornings knowing that he’s had an amazing brain workout and is fulfilled and happy."
